EFT is based on the theory that imbalances in the body`s Energy system can have profound effects on one`s personal psychology. Correcting these imbalances which is done by tapping on specific points of the body often bringing rapid results.

A brief story of its developement

In 1980 Dr Roger Callahan was working with a patient called Mary for an intense fear of water.
She suffered from nightmares, headaches both of which were related to her fear of water. To seek help she was going from therapist to therapist with no improvement. Dr Callahan trying conventional therapies did`t either.
Then one day he stepped outside the boundaries of conventional psychotherapy. Out of curiosity he had been studying energy therapies and he decided to tap under her eye (an end point of the stomach meridian ) this was prompted by her saying the fear gave her stomach discomfort.
To his astonishment, she announced immediately that the phobia had gone and took him to a nearby swimming pool and began throwing water in her face. From this Callahan developed TFT (Thought Field Therapy )Gary Craig was one of his early students. Gary had no medical background. Just an interest in psychology.He further developed the concept adding affirmations and tapping on all the points and thus Emotional Freedom Technique was born in the early 1990`s.




EFT in a nutshell
